The story continues, and in verses 13 to 16, David sees through the ruse — this guy is a liar. And in verse 13 he says, "Where do you come from?" He says, "I'm the son of a sojourner, an Amalekite." That's really important, because it means that this guy was living in the promised land under the reign of Saul. He knows who Saul is. He's not just a guy who happened to be on the battlefield — he's there to plunder the body and to try to reap a reward off of it, because he knows who this is. There's only one reason why he would go to the battle, or find him, to be able to get into that space. You can't just walk into a pitched battle where the king is without getting, you know, targeted yourself. It's clear that this guy is lying and he's trying to profit on it. And David says, "How is it that you were not afraid?" For some reason, it's gone.
